About Us

“The human story behind global environmental change.”

About the Book

My Journey: Fifty Years Chasing Clean Cars and Clean Air offers a rare, firsthand view into the evolution of global environmental policy — told through the life of someone who helped build it.
Blending memoir with history, the book traces the transformation of air quality from the smog-filled cities of the 1970s to today’s electric vehicle revolution. Along the way, Walsh introduces readers to the people, institutions, and pivotal moments that shaped modern climate action.
This is not a technical textbook. It is a human story about persistence, curiosity, and believing that real change is possible — even when progress feels slow.

“I had flown almost ten million miles over the course of my career, and any more hours scrunched in a bumpy plane had no appeal to me — but the story still needed to be told.”

About The Author

Michael P. Walsh is an internationally respected expert in clean transportation and air quality, with a career spanning more than five decades at the forefront of environmental policy and global climate action.

He began his work in public service in 1970, the same year the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was created and the landmark Clean Air Act came into force. From the earliest days of modern environmental regulation, Walsh played a direct role in shaping policies that transformed how cars, trucks, and fuels are regulated around the world.

Over the course of his career, he worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the California Air Resources Board, and numerous international organizations. His work took him across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, advising governments and institutions on strategies to reduce vehicle emissions and improve public health.

For more than 20 years, he served as a senior advisor in China, helping guide national and city-level efforts to combat severe urban air pollution and promote electric vehicles. His work contributed to some of the most ambitious clean transportation programs ever implemented.

But My Journey is not just a professional memoir.

It is also the story of a boy growing up in New York, a son shaped by immigrant roots, a husband deeply devoted to his wife of 50 years, and a man learning how to let go after a lifetime of work.

Written during the global pandemic and following the loss of his wife, the book reflects on love, grief, resilience, and the meaning of legacy. It is both a historical account of environmental progress and a deeply personal meditation on time, purpose, and change.

Michael P. Walsh currently lives in Virginia and continues to write, speak, and advocate for a cleaner, healthier future.
